Drainage Repair at Bethel

For the last several years every time it rains water pours into the basement or seeps into the walls and floors of classrooms on our lower levels. Recently, the reverse (or negative) drainage issues around our building have caused the east entrance to become a safety hazard. Our elders have approved an expansive repair project to correct drainage issues in nine distinct areas of our building. This repair project begins July 29th and should be completed by September 30th. Although this is an unexpected project that was not included in our budget, we will be covering the costs through our Annual Ministry Fund.  If you would like to help financially, simply make an additional donation to our general fund.

… The repair project will impact some of our North and East parking areas. Volunteer work days will be held on July 29 and 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day with breakfast and lunch provided. These volunteer hours will save Bethel nearly $5,000. If you would like to help, please contact Jake Bond-Parsons via e-mail at or at 701-232-4476.

A team of landscape, facilities, and architecture experts have helped our staff and elders evaluate the need for this work and provided direction on how to best solve the reverse drainage problems. Rooms A & B, the choir room, the stairwell in the children’s wing, and rooms 8-10-12 are all impacted by this negative draining. By removing sidewalks, pouring concrete, sand-jacking, and building up the soil around our foundation we are confident this project will be a great solution to the long-term health of our building.
