Fifth Anniversary Brings Congregations Together

Global Outreach Team - BridgeJune 27th proved to be a unique morning for Salem Evangelical Free Church and the Bethel Church family as the two congregations came together to celebrate the fifth anniversary of an important ministry work among the Brou people of northeastern Cambodia. In was June 26, 2005, that found both congregations forging a commitment to adopt one of 7,000 unreached people groups scattered around the world. Prior to that launch date the folk from Salem and Bethel had coupled longs seasons of prayer with tours of Cambodia in search of that particular people group to which God would direct them. This year's celebration recognized five years of joint partnership that has included numerous shared excursions, focusing on things ranging from medical missions to missionary care.

The June 27th services brought the worship ministries from Bethel Church and Salem Church together, and, with Bethel Church hosting the gathering, Salem's senior pastor, Glen Stevens, challenged the congregations from Psalm 96 regarding the high privilege of raising up the nations to glorify God. As an interesting side note, though Salem Evangelical Free Church was launched by the Bethel Church family nearly thirty years ago, this is the first time the two churches have come together to worship on a Sunday morning. What a tremendous testimony to a watching community . . . and world.

Opportunities abound to contribute to God's cause among the Brou people, including a need for a teacher for the missionary children, short-term and long-term missionaries, financial support for various projects, and, of course, prayer. Continue reading about our commitment to the Brou people.
