Adult Bible Fellowships (ABF)

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.—Ephesians 5:1-2

What is an Adult Bible Fellowship?

One of the ways we connect in community at Bethel is through mid-size classes throughout the week. These Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs) provide a context to make friends, learn together, and serve. For those beginning or exploring faith, Christianity Explored is a great entry into ABFs. Others who are growing or multiplying may enjoy a study like Paul’s Missionary Journeys or a skill-based class like Learning Hebrew.

Fall 2014

Fall Adult Bible Fellowships will begin on Sunday, September 7 unless otherwise marked.

Sundays at 9 a.m.

Love and Respect – Led by Steve and Wendy Regner, Conference Room
This DVD series is designed to strengthen your marriage. A woman’s greatest need is love. A man’s greatest need is respect. When either of these isn’t met, things get crazy. “Love & Respect” reveals why spouses react negatively to each other and how they can resolve conflict quickly, easily and biblically. Early registration is suggested as space in limited. Register online now or contact Sueann.

Young Professionals—Led by Joe & Nicole Larson, Arday & Kara Ardayfio, and Pete & Anna VanHal, Room 112
This is a group of young professionals (post college and pursuing careers) that strive to build godly community while providing teaching that connects them to Jesus and one another. This group plans to study a variety of topics throughout the ministry year. If you are looking for a place to connect, join them any Sunday morning!

College Bible Study – Led by Tyler White, Room A
Tyler White will lead a bible study for college students. Together the group will go through various studies throughout the year so bring your ideas and let’s study the Word together! Join us to learn about, discuss, and break into the Word and find answers to contemporary Christian issues. Come anytime.

Resolving Everyday Conflict – Led by Kenyon Williams, Room B
Conflict. We face it every day…at home, at work, and even within the church. The question isn’t how do we avoid it, the question is: how do we show the face of Christ even in the midst of it? Join us for an 8-week study as we use the incredibly practical, rubber-hits-the-road “Peacemakers” curriculum to help you transform your relationships with the power of the gospel.

The Beatitudes – Led by Kenyon Williams and Alan Bruns, Room B  (Starting November 9)
Alan Bruns and Kenyon Williams will be co-teaching a brief series starting Sunday, November 9-December 21 called The Beatitudes. The Beatitudes are the “thesis statement” of Jesus’ ministry on earth, and they’ll be exploring the impact these powerful teachings have on our understanding of who Jesus is and how we as Christians should live. Everyone is invited to join.

Paul’s Missionary Journeys – Led by VerDale Herman and David Hjelle, Room E
In the book of Acts, Luke records three missionary journeys taken by the apostle Paul, and ends with Paul’s journey to Rome. Paul endured many hardships during these journeys – all for the cause of spreading the Gospel. Join us as we see how the Holy Spirit directed the expansion of the Church in the first century AD. We will also consider and discuss how Paul’s efforts to spread the Gospel serve as a good example to us today, along with considering the life God calls all of us to when we choose to follow Him.

Sundays at 10:45 a.m.

Learning Hebrew—Led by Stephen Takacs, Conference Room
Learning the Biblical languages of Greek and Hebrew can be an enriching experience for those who love the challenges of learning. Many have compared knowing Greek or Hebrew to the difference between watching a movie in color and watching a movie in High Definition; the movie doesn’t change but the layers and contours of understanding deepen. By learning Hebrew together we hope to explore the texture of the Hebrew Scriptures.

Singles Over 40—Led by Jeff Nelson, Room 112
This ABF hopes to provide meaningful opportunities to connect in relationship with others in a similar stage in life, and to offer class members a chance to engage in group social activities outside of class. They will do a variety of studies throughout the year. Single and over 40 . . . all are invited!

Friends (Special Needs Class for Adults)– Led by Brenda Hansen, Deanna Gregory, and Ramona Burchill, Room A
Our Friends class is a Bible study for adults with developmental disabilities. Lessons are ability-appropriate and use the intellect of the individual as well as music and crafts to encourage the understanding of Bible stories, helping others, prayer, and Jesus Christ. We believe regardless of disability God has equipped all his people to know Him in a personal way. Appropriate age is teenage and above.

The Art of Marriage—Led by Chuck and Bethann Crary, Room D (Starting November 12)
Every marriage is unique, expressed by the colorful personalities of each spouse and textured by the circumstances at play in their lives. Blending these to make marriage work is a divinely inspired art form, challenging to master but definitely worth the effort. In this six-session study, we weave together expert teaching, engaging stories, man-on-the-street interviews, humorous vignettes and much more to portray the hope and beauty of God’s design.
