Prepare – Matthew 11:28-29
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Have you ever felt like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders? Maybe you have felt tired, run down or even burned out. God’s Word gives us hope.
Rather than attempt to lessen the load, let’s respond to Jesus’ invitation – “come to me.” The invitation is for those who are “weary and burdened.” Sometimes when we are tired, we try to do everything in our power to lessen the load. It appears to be an uphill road that lies in front of us. If that is you right now, pay attention to God’s invitation.
Jesus continues by explaining that we are to take His yoke (be bound together) upon us and learn from Him. Are you yoked together with Jesus right now, or are you carrying the weight of life all alone? Jesus says, “come to me and find rest and I will teach you in a gentle and humble way.” You will find rest like you have never found rest before. I Am the only one who can lift the burdens from your shoulders. My yoke is easy and light.
