Christmas Can Still Change the World!aina

This year, through Advent in Action, we are encouraging our congregation to celebrate Christmas by spending less and giving more. America spends an average of $130 billion a year at Christmas! So what are we asking? That each of us considers buying one less gift this year. Just one. By spending less, we have the opportunity to redirect those dollars to a ministry who will use them to build the Kingdom. Our combined gift will benefit Masters Heart Ministries.

Bethel Church and Masters Heart Ministries are working together to radically improve the lives in Mozambique, India, and Nepal through a clean water initiative. By working with local churches and church planters, each water project will include an opportunity to share the love of Christ. One well can cost between $1,500-10,000. For each gift of $5, you will be helping one person receive clean water. Over the last 8 years, Masters Heart water projects have shown clean water not only helps people physically but also strengthens the local church and provides visible witness to Jesus’ love.

How Does This Work?

During all services in December you can give to Advent in Action by coming forward and placing a gift in the box. Families are encouraged to participate together in this act of generosity. Checks placed in an offering box or bag should indicate “Advent in Action” in the memo. You can also give online knowing that 100% of the money received will go toward clean water in Africa. Pray that God will use these gifts in a mighty way.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me… “
(Matthew 25:34-35 ESV)

Building on a Legacy of Generosity

Over the last several years Advent in Action dollars were used to provide water wells, sanitation improvements, hurricane relief in Haiti, transportation needs in Mozambique and Nepal as well as EFCA crisis response work in Houston and support for Feed My Starving Children. All have proved to be tangible expressions of Christ’s love. We regularly receive updates from Master’s Heart, AwanaIFOSuDEFCA Crisis Response, Feed My Starving Children and others that our investments are providing opportunities to share the love of Jesus. These projects regularly remind people that God really does love their community.

Will what I give make a difference?

If we all give a little, it adds up to a LOT. Your gift of $40, $100, or $1,000 will go a long way toward providing hope through clean water. These investments help build gospel-centered relationships. If every adult at Bethel gave $50 we would quickly raise over $60,000!

Let’s join together this season in sending a special gift to support Masters Heart Ministries. Merry Christmas!
