I am so blessed to be a part of the Bethel family. I look forward each year to taking time off of work in order to volunteer at VBS. Along with the children, I grow closer to God.

When I first started volunteering, I worked with the 2 year olds, the age that I am most familiar with. My comfort zone. A few years ago I was asked to work with 5th grade. That was a big request for me and way out of my comfort zone. God really worked in me. “I can’t do this. I work with preschoolers, not 5th graders, What do I have to offer a 5th grader?”

Nonetheless, after much prayer and growth I worked with the 5th graders and I LOVED IT! God worked in me to work in them. I still have relationships with many of the kids, and it so fulfilling. Their love for God and their willingness to continue to learn and grow gives me hope and motivation.

The joy and energy that the children come with each day of VBS is so contagious. Even though I have volunteered in other areas, I now have a special place in my heart for 5th graders. 🙂
