One of my fondest memories growing up was going to church camp. So, I was very excited to participate in leading children to Christ through Bethel’s Vacation Bible School this year.
It was beautiful to see God work His plan in the children’s relationships and their learning and development. I watched as children who were unsure of their belief (or at least showing their belief) came out of their shells. At first, they would watch as we worshiped with hands raised and played games that built relationships with each other. But throughout the week, each of those reserved children came to realize how great our God is and how much He love it when we worship Him, learn about Him, and love others. Tears came to my eyes on the last day as I saw my entire group worship Him.
Some of the children came with a deeper faith in God than many adults and I saw them being His disciples at the youngest of ages. One girl brought multiple new friends throughout the week. She wanted every one of her friends to know God, love God, and learn how to share His name. Talk about sharing HIS LOVE!
As leaders we also grew through VBS, encouraging each other. I met many new friends and learned more about sharing His Word as I worked through each day’s joys and challenges.
The best part of VBS, though, was watching EIGHT children accept Christ as their Savior!
