Redemption and Restoration

The “sin-cycle” in the life of Israel is reflected in these passages of Joel: Sin leads to Discipline/judgment which leads to repentance which leads to cleansing which leads to restoration which leads to Rest. Israel would rebel against God and turn their back on worshipping Him thus God would send a plague against their crops or send invading armies to discipline them to bring them to a place of repentance, cleansing, restoration and soul rest. In Joel 2:25, Israel has repented from their sin, they’ve been cleansed of the sin and they’ve returned to worship God. God restores their crops which were destroyed by an invading plague of locusts (God designed), now God gives them reassurance and rest in Him!
