Being in the image of Christ (Rom. 8:29; Eph. 5:1) means a true disciple of Christ learns to live like Christ (1 John 2:6) and to love like Christ (Matt. 22:37-39). The third component on the transformational pathway of a genuine disciple of Jesus Christ is to lead like Christ. Leading like Christ means a disciple of Christ must take action steps to be in the exact likeness of their leader/teacher, Jesus Christ (Luke 6:40). The action steps of leading like Christ are not merely about hearing, it requires “doing.” Jesus gives us a glimpse of how a true disciple can begin to lead like Him in Mark 14:41-42 & 1 Peter 2:21. Leading like Jesus Christ means followers of Christ must learn to love & depend upon God (Prov. 3:5-6), love others, available to lead and be willing to face the challenges that their Master, Jesus Christ faced; ultimately, this means stepping up and stepping out.
