Divine Intervention or Man's Invention

Sarah and Hagar’s shared experience is one of taking matters into one’s own hands, pursuing God’s blessings by selfish and earthly means, ignoring God’s promises and ways, but scrambling to make life work. This is the life of works-righteousness, and is contrary to the Promise. We must “cast-out” the works approach and embrace the Promise. Paul affirms the incompatibility of legalism and liberty, commanding that we let go of the legalism.
