An Others Centered Life

The words “service” and “serve” are popular in our culture today. In the news we read about the popularity of justice initiatives and young people seeking to change the world. Most people really want to do good things for others by helping others. Beyond this cultural expectation of doing great things for the benefit of others lies another motivation for service found in the heart of the Gospel message. We see in the life of Jesus, read in the New Testament, and experience for ourselves the truth that we love because Jesus first loved us. Because service and doing good for the benefits of others is rooted in the character and nature of God, believers throughout history have sought to model His love through service to others.
