God uses the seemingly insignificant to accomplish the eternal. This week’s study brings us to Luke 2 and the announcement of Jesus’ birth by the angels to the shepherds. These shepherds were considered social outcasts, sinners. They were regarded as unclean and generally dishonest by their peers. In a most unlikely, turn of events it is the shepherds to whom God announces first the arrival of His Son. No social media campaign. No media blitz. No political fanfare. An announcement to the least of these reminds the reader that Jesus has come to save the outcasts and the sinners.
