It was customary for kings to lead their armies in military activity in the spring, but David decided to stay behind and not lead his armies. David’s dismissal of his kingly duties led to the lustful appetite of his eyes, lust of his flesh and his pride of life. After seeing his beautiful bathing neighbor, Bathsheba, David sends for Bathsheba and has her brought to his palace where, burning with lust, he had sex with Bathsheba.  This one act of unbridled lust would dreadfully cost David pain and agony for the rest of his life.
