The wisdom of Proverbs 3 has saved many from the dangers of living outside God’s will. There is hope and wholesomeness for those who live according to God’s instructions. Verses 5-6 are some of the most popular and frequently memorized verses of this chapter. The chapter begins with a father asking his son to consider the ways of healthy obedience and love for the Lord (1-2). Love and trust for the Lord begins with a trusting heart (3). This trusting heart is established as the son remembers the promises of God resulting in a deep confidence in God’s faithfulness (5-6). Unlike those who trust in political power, riches, and temporary passions the man or woman of God remains confident that God will care for His children.
