Of all the churches that Paul planted, the Philippians went above and beyond in their support of Paul’s ministry. They were quick to share their material wealth with Paul and were generous in sending workers to help accomplish the spread of the good news. Paul concludes his letter to the Philippians with profound thanksgiving for their financial gift and the sending of Epaphroditus. As Paul writes from a jail cell, knowing his life will soon end at the hand of the Roman government, he reminds the church that contentment is less about our circumstances and more about the One who strengthens. An often quoted verse, 4:13 is a great reminder that in Christ, we can be content through any circumstance.
