Love

Mark 14:32-42 is an agonizing portrait of Jesus’ anguish in the Garden of Gethsemane. In Mark 14:36, Jesus knew the scope of His Father‘s power and omniscience to provide an alternate plan of salvation, if He desired. Jesus willingly submits to the Father’s plan and will for Him. Jesus demonstrates His ultimate love for the Father through His obedience to take His cup of divine wrath to fulfill God’s plan for the redemption of man. Jesus submits in informed obedience to allow God’s will to be completed in His life, His own will was inconsequential to the Father’s. This reveals Jesus’ total resolution and resignation to prove His love and obedience to do the will of the Father; which is the ultimate love God has demonstrated to mankind (Romans 5:8).
