CloseFollowing the feeding of the 5,000, Jesus' disciples argued over who would be the greatest in the kingdom of God. Jesus pulled the men away from the crowds into a place where they could be alone. Matthew, Mark and Luke all record a moment where the men are challenged that to inherit the kingdom of God, they must die to selfish ambition for power, prestige, and position. Jesus invites His disciples to a radical departure from the world's system of getting all that you can in this life. This pattern of self-seeking started in the garden in Genesis 3 and must be traded in for something better, namely seeking the Kingdom of God through abandoning self and trusting God for a Kingdom which is yet to come.
